MY EXHILARATING & MEMORABLE HOLIDAY IN YUNNAN - PART 1

Foreword

For this new posting, I want to let my photographs and captions portray my holiday experience in Yunnan Province, China. So, there is less in narrative story. Let the pictures tell the story………so to speak.

Short Introduction

·         Travel span: March 17 – 24, 2014.

·         Stayed in three cities: Kunming, Lijiang, Shangrila. Visits around the three cities and peripheral sites.

Photos & Captions

* Kunming side:

(Lasses in traditional colourful costumes welcoming visitors to the Minority (ethnic groups) Village.)
(Shrine of a minority tribe.)
(Model of traditional house of a tribe,)

·

(         (Model of another tribe's traditional house....decorated with strings of dried maize.)

(Traditional matrimonial bed of a tribe.)
                                                                 (Ancient writings)
(This was captured while walking around the Minority Village. The village has its scenic areas.)
(Another of the several idyllic scenes in the village.)
(Kunming is sited on a plateau, on high altitude.....there is no sea. Yet migratory seagulls infested this large lake in March. Visitors strolling on the esplanade can catch a good glimpse of the birds hovering just above them. The birds would swoop down to peck food from the hands of visitors )
( Countless seagulls resting on the look-alike-sea Dian Lake which has waves stirred by strong winds.)
(Strolling around the Flower Market in the heart of Kunming was refreshing to our tired bodies.)

*Lijiang side:
(We were ready to take the challenge to ride on horse back to trot for more than 2 hrs - our first experience in this activity. Bear in mind.........10 senior citizens in our group!! This was near Lashi Lake in the suburb off Lijiang city.

(Senior citizens in a row......trotting the ancient Tea Horse Passage. The passage was used in the olden past for trade - transporting goods between Tibet and Yunnan, like herbs.)
(A short rest at this base - for us and the horses - and opportunity to take some snapshots.)
(Two of the numerous colourful cultural dance and song performances in the main theatre of Lijiang)

Note: Please read Part 2 for more photos and captions...........posted immediately after this batch.
